Monthly Activities

Slow Jams

Slow Jams are held on the second Tuesday of the month from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm at the Kalamazoo Public Library on the 3rd floor Van Deusen Room, 315 S. Rose St., Downtown Kalamazoo, MI

Acoustic stringed instrument players are welcome to join members of GLAMA for a fun jam based on simple chord progressions and slow to medium tempos. It is helpful to know several chords and be able to change from one to the other. You are encouraged to bring a tuner and a capo.

Basic jamming tips included!

Beginners welcome!

Pub Jams

We are hunting for a permanent day and location for this ongoing event. For July, you can join us Wednesday, July 23rd at Old Dog Tavern from 6pm-8:30pm!

The Pub Jams are for our more seasoned players who can pick up more complex tunes at a higher tempo. This is a great opportunity to expand your intermediate to advanced skills, lead a song, and take a lead break with other acoustic musicians. Check out our Pub Jam page for more details.

Village Stage Live

This is an open mic event to be held on the beautiful old storied stage of the Richland Community Hall, the original home of the Augusta Barn Theatre in the late 1940’s. The event is co-sponsored by Great Lakes Acoustic Music Association (GLAMA), the Village of Richland, Great Grounds Coffee Café, and Friends of the Richland Library.
