Petting Zoo

GLAMA ACOUSTIC INSTRUMENT PETTING ZOO

This community engagement music program is intended to give people of all ages their first experience playing a variety of traditional acoustic stringed instruments. GLAMA volunteers will set up at designated events (festivals, concerts, museums, schools, libraries, camps, conferences, community centers, senior residences, etc.), offering children and adults the opportunity to explore playing a guitar, banjo, mandolin, harmonica, ukulele, fiddle, autoharp, or resonator guitar. Paired with an experienced GLAMA volunteer mentor, each visitor will discover how to hold, pick, chord, and strum the instruments, culminating in a simple play-along with the mentor.

If you’re interested in hosting a Petting Zoo visit at your event, please don’t hesitate to reach out at board@greatlakesacoustic.org for more details!
